ABOUT LAURA

Nederlands

ENGLISH

Laura Vanborm's photographic work explores the connection between dance and photography. As a dancer, yogi and pilates practitioner, she uses her own body as a medium, creating sculptural forms that embody and explore both stillness and movement.

Is it possible to show the viewer a “moving image” captured in a photograph? Can you still feel the movement and emotion that were present while taking the picture?

Using colour and sequences as narrative elements, Laura questions the impermanence of a pose and the tension between control and surrender.

Since its inception, photography has been used to capture performances, in that sense, movement and photography are uniquely intertwined.

Her work invites a contemplative dialogue about the physical presence and the poetry of transformation."

This translates into images that invite the viewer not only to perceive visually, but also to reflect on themes such as movement, motion, impermanence and transformation.

Her photography is not merely a registration of poses, but raises questions and feelings such as: How do we experience our own bodies in space? What does it mean to take form and let go again? All this makes her work more than an aesthetic exploration; it becomes a means of introspection and dialogue between the viewer and the image.
